12-16 Piecing it together

Another of my "meditations in paint". These are done without any thought for the final image. They begin with a mark and proceed according to a kind of internal logic of their own until they reach a resolution or find a clear direction. It's a delightful process of "seeing what you paint" as opposed to "painting what you see". They don't always reach a satisfactory conclusion, but they are great teachers. This one has deepened my understanding of the pigment cobalt turquoise and of colour mixing for equal intervals in a transition.
